Jonathan is an experienced executive, non-executive and advisory/consultancy leader, who has delivered in senior roles in private, public and voluntary sectors over 30+ years.
In the commercial world from 1987-2000 he undertook and led analytical projects, ran a 120-person internal consultancy division, and a commercial innovation team pioneering customer journey thinking.
As Director of Culture Change at Lambeth Council until 2003 he led programmes of work re-establishing management disciplines within the failing authority, amongst other things leading to the award of Investors in People as a key milestone for change. As Deputy Chief Executive and Strategic Director of Resources at Bedfordshire County Council he led a number of fundamental change programmes critical to the Council’s improvement journey, including the termination of a dysfunctional strategic partnership, whilst carrying a full “business as usual” portfolio.
As Director at Veredus from 2006 Jonathan led organisational development interventions, board evaluations and coaching activity cross-sector, and as head of Local Government facilitated the appointment of many very senior players within the sector.
From 2011-16 Jonathan led Capita’s strategic approaches to the local government sector, acting as an emissary for the sector within the company and vice versa. During this time he was appointed to the independent service transformation challenge panel which reported to HMT and DCLG in 2014 on improving the pace of public service change.
Jonathan has held a range of charitable and public sector non-executive roles, since 1998, including chairing boards, audit and finance committees, in fields as diverse as the arts, scientific research, and adult education.
