John Houghton

John has been a consultant since 2006, working with government departments, housing and regeneration bodies, and major national charities to improve outcomes for people and places.

Starting his career at the Department of Communities and Local Government, John worked on the national programme to regenerate the poorest parts of England. This culminated in managing the £42m per year Community Programme.

While in government, John won a Fulbright scholarship to travel to the US to identify lessons from state and federal anti-poverty programmes.

Since becoming a consultant, John has provided research, insight and support to a range of clients, helping them to access considerable amounts of funding.

Clients include: local authorities, housing associations and regeneration partnerships in every part of England; HMCLG, Homes England, and the Planning Advisory Service; and major national charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Victim Support, Prostate Cancer UK and Drink Aware.

John holds an MA (Hons) in British Politics from the University of London and BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Oxford
